Advisory Committees

The eec’s collective vision continues with the Advisory Committees which support key functions of the eec.

Member Initiatives Advisory Committee

This Advisory Committee is chaired by eec members Joel Book of ExactTarget and Stephanie Miller of Aprimo.

Got a great idea that doesn't quite fit into one of the other Roundtables? Want to lead a project that can be accomplished in a quarter? Think that a particular vertical market might benefit from custom review or data analysis? Have a pressing need that you want industry insight and support around? The Member Initiatives Advisory Committee is designed to facilitate collaboration among eec members and work on a variety of initiatives on any email-related topic that promote email marketing best practices and help the industry learn together. Each quarter, we will embark on 1-2 projects that are short term in nature and have very specific deliverables. We will coordinate closely with the other Roundtables, and involve members to ensure the broadest perspective.

Projects under consideration include developing benchmarks for particular industries (e.g., publishers or retailers), tips for taking your email program global, and interpretation of various studies that focus on subscriber utility of the "report spam" button. Join the Committee and help us identify the best projects and recruit volunteers to make them happen!

Submit your ideas for projects.

Speakers Bureau Advisory Committee

This Advisory Committee is directed by Ali Swerdlow of the eec and chaired by eec members Lana McGilvray of Datran Media and Dori Thompson of Information era marketing.

The Speakers Bureau Advisory Committee is dedicated to supporting the efforts of the eec's Speakers Bureau, which strives to spread industry knowledge and welcome new practitioners into the email marketing community, which is ready to help them reap the full benefits of permission-based email marketing and stay clear of pitfalls. The Speakers Bureau consists of experienced eec members who have committed to making themselves available to speak at events that currently have little or no programming about email marketing.

Speakers Bureau Advisory Committee supports the Bureau by helping it to:
• Find events where our speakers can do the most good;
• Compile resources (lists of whitepapers, websites and other free resources) related to each topic covered by the Speakers Bureau to extend learning beyond our presentations;
• Review speaker applications to ensure a high level of quality;
• Create a series of webinars addressing the topics covered by the Speakers Bureau; and
• Handle other policy, management and administrative tasks associated with operating the Bureau.

Meeting Schedule: This Advisory Committee meets on the first Thursday of the month at 2pm EST/11am PST.

Previous Projects: Developed and launched an eec YouTube Marketer Education Channel.

Raise awareness of the eec Speakers Bureau, secure speaking opportunities for Bureau participants, and begin producing a series of webinars on email marketing fundamentals.

Launched the eec Speakers Bureau.

Nonprofit Project Advisory Committee (Inactive)

This Advisory Committee is directed by Ali Swerdlow of the Email Experience Council.

Each year the eec chooses a nonprofit with an email challenge and assembles a team of expert members to help them achieve their goals. We think there's no better way to showcase the power of email marketing than to demonstrate its incredible return on investment in the nonprofit sector, where manpower and financial power are especially precious. Our Nonprofit Projects also provide members with a chance to expand their skillsets and network with peers—all while giving back to the community.
