Speakers Bureau

Email marketing generates an estimated return on investment of $45.06 for every dollar spent on it, according to the Direct Marketing Association. That return outpaces the ROI of search, direct mail and all other forms of marketing—but we think it can be even higher. The key to higher returns lies in applying time-tested strategies, techniques and best practices to each organization’s unique subscriber base.

The Email Experience Council’s Communications Roundtable (now the Speakers Bureau Advisory Committee) created this Speakers Bureau as a way to spread this industry knowledge and welcome new practitioners into the community, which is ready to help them reap the full benefits of permission-based email marketing and stay clear of pitfalls. The Speakers Bureau consists of experienced eec members who have committed to making themselves available to speak at events that currently have little or no programming about email marketing.

What People Are Saying About Our Speakers

Our speakers are great, but don't take our word for it. Here's what event organizers are saying about our speakers:

"...great presenter. He was engaging and entertaining, and managed to present a great deal of data without ever being dry. His presentation was well-tailored to the audience’s needs and provided both theory and practical advice. Can’t speak highly enough of him."
—Ernesto Burden, VP of Digital Media at The Telegraph, which hosted a newspaper industry workshop on Oct. 30, 2008

Information for Speakers Bureau Participants

Want to help the Email Experience Council spread its message about the power of responsible, permission-based email marketing? Are you an eec member with speaking or teaching experience, or with a strong desire to build such experience? If so, the Speakers Bureau is perfect for you. You’ll gain exposure to new audiences, hone your presentation skills, and contribute to the growth and evolution of the email marketing community.

SPEAKER SUPPORT & RESPONSIBILITIES
The eec supports Speakers Bureau participants by matching them up with speaking opportunities and assisting with presentation materials. The eec also provides access to the Speakers Bureau Resource Library, which contains sample PowerPoint slides as well as support materials for topics, such as lists of resources that can be distributed to attendees to extend the participants’ learning beyond the presentation.

Speakers may request reimbursement for travel expenses associated with speaking at an event. While the eec will make sure the event organizer is aware of these conditions, it is up to the speaker to make sure they are written into the speaker contract.

JOIN THE SPEAKERS BUREAU
If you’re an eec member and would like to join the Speakers Bureau, please complete a Speaker Application Form. All applications are reviewed by the members of the Speakers Bureau Advisory Committee.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP
The Speakers Bureau is keenly interested in identifying events that would be ideal platforms for reaching lots of people who may not be entirely familiar with email marketing best practices and laws. Ideally such an event would currently offer little or no email marketing programming on its agenda. If you know of such an event, please notify us.

In addition to helping our speakers develop presentations that address the target areas outlined above, we are collecting lists of whitepapers, websites and other free resources related to each topic in order to extend the participants’ learning beyond the presentation. If you know of or would like to contribute such resources, please contact us.

Thank you for your interest and involvement.
